Welcome to Poetry in Glasgow (PIG), your community resource for local events, opportunities and helpful miscellany. No matter whether you are a seasoned poet, a regular slam champion, an aspiring bard, a poetic newbie or simply someone who enjoys the occasional reading: this website is for you.
The idea for PIG emerged on a dark and stormy winter night in early 2025 against the backdrop of some rather concerning developments on the social media sites most of us use to keep on top of local events and writing opportunities. Our collective reliance on commercial social media companies with their often highly questionable ethics simply seemed like a bad idea.
Our response was the creation of PIG: a tool for and by the poetry community.
