Yes, SPAM is turning 10 and what better way to celebrate than in the beloved Poetry Club, where it all began back in 2016
SPAM TURNS 10!!!
We are celebrating our birthday with a cyber rave theme at our original venue where it all began at The Poetry Club, Glasgow! Harkening back to the earlier formats of SPAM zine events, we have poets, bands, DJs, an audiovisual work and other special features (hey poetry raffle!)
It's the biggest line up we've had to date with so many beloved poets and friends involved with doors at 7pm and the action going on until close at 3am. Get down early as poets will be reading straight away!

POETS
Iphgenia Baal is a writer. she was born in london but now lives in scotland with her new family. she is the author of several books, the first being the hardy tree andd the most recent being man hating psycho. she is a enthusiastic producer of print ephemera and collaborative work. she is currently working on a series of books for children with artist fanny wickstrom.
Denise Bonetti is the founder and runaway mum of SPAM Press.
Helen Charman's first book, Mother State: a political history of motherhood (Penguin/ Allen Lane) came out in 2024. She has published four poetry pamphlets, including Daddy Poem (SPAM) and In the Pleasure Dairy (Sad Press), and her poems have been shortlisted for the White Review Poet's Prizeand the Ivan Juritz Prize for Creative Experiment. She lives in Glasgow, where she works in various capacities with organisations like Counterflows music festival, Amma Birth Companions, and the Glasgow School of Art.
Anjeli Caderamanpulle is a poet writing about culture: how we live inside it. Her pamphlet boys, a series of love poems addressed to a succession of white boys of the week, was published with Spam Press in 2020. She also edits intermittently Meet Cute Zine, with its most recent issue featuring writing on The Twilight Saga. She is currently writing, watching, and thinking about the Real Housewives.
Kirsty Dunlop is Editor-in-Chief of SPAM Press.
Colin Herd is a poet, whose books include Cocoa & Nothing, with Maria Sledmere, which was published by SPAM Press in 2022. Aquafaba came out this year from Spite Press, and of this book Bhanu Kapil said “Can you imagine Colin Herd being your poetry teacher? You wish.” He has been anthologised in Fierce Salvage and 100 Queer Poems among other places. He has written a novel in 120 T Shirts which will come out in 2027. He co-edits The Journal of British and Irish Innovative Poetry. He co-hosts with Claire Reynolds Let Them Eat Books: The Podcast and a reading series Bulb!
Parel Joy
Ian Macartney works with words, sounds, images and other people. Previous publications include languishing, cute (with Maria Sledmere; Tapsalteerie), The Infinite Fury and other stories (Strange Region) and ! / Object (SPAM Press). Shorter work has appeared in The Poetry Review, PROTOTYPE and on NTS Radio's Plastic Language show. He also runs the small press sincere corkscrew (whose most recent publication is Kirsty Dunlop's debut novella, Centrefolding) and is one half of Texture Texture.
Lizzie McC is a poet from glasgow. she graduated from university of glasgow in 2020 and her pamphlet ‘glitterbawl’ was published by spam in the same year.
Scott Morrison is a musician, poet and painter from Glasgow. He's one half of audiovisual duo Instruction Manual, one fifth of ambient boy-band Neuro Trash, and one-eighth of mossy alt-folk group Megalichen. As well as writing songs and music, he writes poems, short stories and essays - some of which have been published in the past by SPAM.
Calum Rodger
Dan Power was shortlisted for the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award. In 2016, his first ever published poem appeared in Spam Zine #3, ‘Vape or Dream’. In 2017 his first pamphlet, PREDICTIVE TEXT POEMS, was published by Spam Press. Dan’s poems have since appeared in Poetry London, Poetry Ireland Review, Magma, Gutter, Berlin Lit, and more. His pamphlet Memory Foam, written with and against ChatGPT, was published by Doomsday Press in 2023. Dan has appeared on BBC Radio 4, discussing the advantages and dangers of using generative AI in a creative context, and his sound poems have been broadcast on NTS Radio. Dan runs Trickhouse Press, a publisher specialising in visual poetry, and his film poems have appeared in galleries and at festivals around the UK. Maria Sledmere is former editor-in-chief of SPAM Press, now managing editor. She lectures at the Univesity of Strathclyde and is a restless gemini with over twenty print publications including most recently The Indigo Hours (Broken Sleep Books, 2025). In 2023 SPAM published a collaboration of Ritter Sport chocolate themed poems written with Colin Herd, Cocoa and Nothing. SPAM also published her collaboration of sonic essaying written with Max Parnell, Pure Sound in 2019 and a pamphlet of Mad Men haiku, Existential Stationary. She’s the ideas guy but is no stranger to a spreadsheet-induced migraine.

Texture Texture has one remit: to make you "DANCE LIKE YOU ARE SCARED". Formed in late 2023 by writer Ian Macartney and Santiago Taberna (Homework), they’ve played café basements, pub attics and cocktail bars, supporting artists as varied as Man Man, Baths and fantasy of a broken heart. An EP is currently in the works.
