Connected Voices is a multidisciplinary poetry evening exploring poetry as a platform for liberation. The event features moving poetry, visual art and delicious food.

Be prepared to experience captivating performances where poetry is combined with other art forms including dance, music and vocals. 

Taking place on 25th July at Stereo, Connected Voices celebrates the role of poetry in movements for liberation, inviting  audiences to reflect on how they create and experience art.

Featured artists:

• Jj Fadaka is a writer, facilitator and radical based in Edinburgh. Their writing explores the potential of abolition, feminism, and love to create change. They use poetry to speak to the political urgencies we face whilst centring community-making in building our resistance.
• ACE V!S!ON is a non-binary Scottish-Malawian poet, musician, and actor whose lyrical prowess and powerful yet nuanced delivery leave a lasting impression. Moving fluidly between witty rap, poignant poetry, and subtle vocal expression, their work has been shaped through years of creating within the Glasgow arts scene.
• Christabel is a poet and writer whose work explores the themes of love, identity, spirituality, justice and liberation. Rooted in emotion, storytelling and lived experience, her writing touches on both the personal and the political, inviting audiences to connect and reflect.
• Cecelia Isoghene is a multidisciplinary artist based in Glasgow. They see art as a way to connect and communicate stories and experiences.
• Flora Weideger is a poet from North Ayrshire. Utilising Scots and cynicism, she explores dissolutionment, shite jobs and mental health crises - often leaning into comedy. With this performance, she is departing slightly from her usual work to explore something less bleak; liberation. Flora asks herself, ‘what on earth could make a cynic like me feel free?’
• O’kanoyinsola, who goes by Oyin, is a mixed media artist.
• Sara is a multidisciplinary artist and activist based in Glasgow. Her practice encompasses illustration, graphic design, photography, and filmmaking. Sara’s work is inspired by her Khaleeji identity, and exploring rage and joy as tools for liberation.
