Making Metaphors. A poetry workshop.
In this workshop, you will study the components of metaphor (tenor, vehicle, tension), read poems that use metaphor and extended metaphor, and write your own poems that flourish with figurative language.
The session will include a short tutorial, writing triggers to inspire new poems, time to write, and feedback on your poems from Anna and your fellow writers.
About your tutor.
Anna Saunders is the author of Communion, (Wild Conversations Press), Struck, (Pindrop Press) Kissing the She Bear, (Wild Conversations Press), Burne Jones and the Fox, Ghosting for Beginners, Feverfew, The Prohibition of Touch, Eurydice in the Ruined House (all from Indigo Dreams). Anna has a Master's degree in Creative and Critical Writing and has taught for over 20 years. Since 2010, she has run Cheltenham Poetry Festival. Anna Saunders has been described as ‘a poet who surely can do anything’ by The North, ‘a modern myth maker’ by Paul Stephenson, and Tears in the Fence said of her ‘Anna Saunders’ poetry is reminiscent of Plath – with all its alpha achievement and radiance’.
