The Lock-In Poetry Slam
Ryan’s Bar 165 Allison Street, Glasgow
THE LOCK-IN IS BACK!
We’re taking over Ryan’s Bar on April 14th to showcase the best poetry Scotland has to offer.
Poets will be competing in 3 x 3 minute rounds themed to find the most well-rounded poet.
Round 1: “Make us LAUGH” – this is the simplest and potentially the most challenging round – comedy ain’t easy
Round 2: “Make us THINK” – have you got something experimental to bring? Or have you got a point to make? Show us something that will run rings around our heads.
Round 3: “Make us FEEL” – Love, loss, lust. Elation, embarrassment, ecstasy. Bring out all the big emotions for the final round.
The winner will take home £50 cash.
Sign-ups are open from now until Friday 21st March – sign-up by messaging Candlelight Open Mic on Instagram or Facebook.
Audiences – it’s your job to sway the judges by making as much noise as possible for the poets you enjoy.
Tickets are £5 and can be bought in advance via: https://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Glasgow/Ryan%27s-Bar-Glasgow/THE-LOCK-IN-POETRY-TRIATHLON-at-Ryans-Bar/40836475/

Artistic Director of Spoken Word @ The PBH Free Fringe, multiple slam winner, host of many nights, and Glasgow’s best support act for poetry and music!
Ryan’s Bar has step-free access and a disabled bathroom. Microphones use will be enforced for performances (unless under exceptional circumstances). If you have any questions regarding accessibility, please feel free to contact the Candlelight Facebook/Instagram pages.
THE LOCK IN is a place where everyone is welcome – unless you choose to act like a dick or in a way that makes others unwelcome. In this case, you are not welcome. This means: no sexism, no racism, no transphobia, no homophobia, no ablism, and no classism will be tolerated. No punching down, in or out of poems.
