Red Carpet by Steve Malmude - Carcanet Online Book Launch
online
Carcanet Press is hosting an online event celebrating the launch of their next publication, Red Carpet by Steve Malmude.
The event will feature readings and discussion, and audience members will have the opportunity to ask their own questions afterwards. Text will be made available during the readings.
Please join us to celebrate the launch of Red Carpet by Steve Malmude, edited by Miles Champion, who will also host this reading. The event will feature readings and discussion, and audience members will have the opportunity to ask their own questions. We will show the text during readings so that you can read along. While the place and year of Steve Malmude’s birth (Manhattan, 1940) nominally stamp him as a second-generation poet of the New York School, his hieratic, almost ideogrammatic poems, made slowly and carefully – sometimes over many years – are utterly distinct from those of his peers. With substantial selections from his books – all but ten of Malmude’s previously published poems are included here – Red Carpet also gathers unpublished early work (the opening sonnet was written in 1958, when Malmude’s guiding star was Robert Lowell) along with poems written after he relocated to Limerick, Maine, in 2002. Registration for this online event will cost £2, redeemable against the cost of the book. You will receive the discount code and instructions for how to purchase the book in your confirmation email as well as during and after the event.
Fee: £2.00
