Working Class Writers Workshop
Civic House 26 Civic Street, Glasgow
Rosies Disobedient Press and Maria Fusco are happy to announce a day-long practical workshop for working-class writers on 19th September. The event has been devised in response to our working-class writers bursary scheme earlier this year, with a desire to share and discuss learning and resources widely. The day will be structured around questions of working-classness within creative practice, how this manifests in the material of our making beyond subject, as well as sharing methodologies for practice through writing. The event will be centered around discussion and working more widely as a group, with some instances of individual work; for this reason there isn’t opportunity for individualised feedback within this event.
The event is free to attend but places can be booked on a first-come-first-served basis by filling out the simple form below. This is to make sure we can allocate the accessibility support outlined here fairly. We have a capacity for 50 participants. We have a number of needs-based access bursaries available for those to attend, aimed at supporting travel and assisting with costs towards caring responsibilities. We can also provide accommodation for up to two nights (18th and 19th September) a maximum of 10 participants travelling from outside the central belt.
A hot lunch will be provided for all participants as well as refreshments throughout the day.
Who is this event for?
The event is for working-class practitioners working in any form, we regard this expansively across visual art and writing - please feel free get in touch if you have any questions about this.
This event is only for people based in Scotland, however we welcome those from all working-class communities living and working here.
Unfortunately the event is not for those currently in education. The reason for this is that practitioners still in education, whilst not receiving class-specific support, are currently in a position to research and interrogate within a supportive infrastructure. This day aims to provide a day for practitioners who do not currently have such an infrastructure.
