This workshop is open for poets of all levels and experiences.
How can you capture the warmth, the surprise, the quiet exhilaration of joy in words? Whether it’s a burst of laughter or the soft glow of contentment, you’ll learn to explore joy in all its forms.
What does joy feel like in your body?
What does it look like when you turn our attention to the moments of lightness, laughter, and wonder of the everyday?
In this generative poetry workshop, you’ll explore how joy can emerge through paying attention and creative play. You will use interactive exercises, creative prompts, spontaneous writing, and guided reflection to explore joy’s many facets: the fleeting, the subtle, and the exuberant.
Drawing inspiration from poets like Mookie Katigbak-Lacuesta, Mary Oliver, Ellen Bass, Marjorie Evasco, Billy Collins, and more, you’ll practice writing from the heart and letting happiness pour onto the page in unexpected ways. You’ll focus on the sensory, the surprising, and the celebratory, encouraging each participant to find their unique expression of joy through poetry.
This workshop is for anyone looking to embrace positivity and creative freedom, whether you’re a seasoned poet or new to writing.
