Play with Gray: Expanding Your Practice - Quick-Response Drawing & Writing
Alasdair Gray Archive The Whisky Bond, 2 Dawson Road, Glasgow
Join us for free creative workshops at The Alasdair Gray Archive, created especially for creatives — and writers in particular — who want to push their practice beyond words.
Developed during a residency by researcher Niamh Gordon, these workshops draw on a creative approach she calls process-as-method. This approach shifts the focus of creative work away from the finished literary or artistic product and back towards the act of making itself. By concentrating on process, we open space for unstructured, unexpected experimentation, allowing new ways of creating, thinking and exploring to emerge in conversation with the materials of the archive.
The workshops are devised and led by Niamh Gordon, a doctoral candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow and a member of the art collective Babe Station. In 2025, Niamh was a creative resident at The Alasdair Gray Archive.
