The showcase of St Mungo's Mirrorball's Clydebuilt 17 poets will be on April 30th at Waterstones, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow (7-9pm, please arrive before 7pm to ensure access). Award winning poet Niall Campbell will introduce his Clydebuilt mentees: Ruth Aylett, Ellen Renton, Gabrielle Tse and Catherine Wilson Garry.

Ruth Aylett lives in Edinburgh and her working life as a researcher of AI and robotics often makes it into her poems, as does her long engagement with political activism. Her pamphlets Pretty in Pink (4Word) and Queen of Infinite Space (Maytree) were published in 2021, and her first collection Shouting in the Tunnel (Culture Matters) is due out at the start of 2026. She is also working on a narratively-framed pamphlet called The Library of Resistance.
Ellen Renton is a poet from Edinburgh whose work varies in form and has included film, installation, music, and theatre. She released the pamphlet _An Eye For An Eye For An Eye_with Stewed Rhubarb Press, and the album My Noise is Nothing with electronic musician and DJ Lord of the Isles.
Gabrielle Tse is a writer from Hong Kong. Her debut poetry pamphlet, Rustlings, was published by Verve. She was shortlisted for the Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Award in 2025 and previously won the Hong Kong Young Writers’ Award two years in a row.
Catherine Wilson Garry is a poet and writer. Her debut poetry pamphlet Another Word for Home is Blackbird was published in 2023 by Stewed Rhubarb Press. Her writing has been commissioned by organisations including BBC Radio 4, the British National Gallery and published by Extra Teeth, Gutter and New Writing Scotland. She is the winner of awards including the Janet Coats Memorial Prize and has been highly commended by the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award 2024 and the Bridport Prize. In 2023/24 she was a member of The London Library’s Emerging Writers. She is also part of the team behind Push the Boat Out Festival where she co-hosts their monthly night Rock the Boat.
Niall Campbell is a poet from the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. His first poetry collection, Moontide, won the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award and Saltire First Book of the Year. Noctuary, his second collection, was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Collection in 2019. A selection from these first two books were published in the U.S. as First Nights, part of the Princeton Series of Contemporary Poets. His latest collection, The Island in the Sound, was shortlisted for the Forward Prize Best Collection 2025. He works as a librettist and is the editor of the acclaimed poetry journal, Poetry London. He lives in Fife.
