The North is a literary magazine published twice a year by The Poetry Business, and is essential reading for anyone who loves contemporary poetry. Each issue includes: a lively range of international poetry by new and established writers, book reviews from mainstream publishers to smaller presses; critical articles; conversations with writers; and features such as ‘Poets I Go Back To…’ and our celebrated ‘Blind Criticism’ close-readings.

There are no restrictions on subject matter or style, but as a magazine of contemporary poetry, we look for energy, imagination and technique. We receive many submissions to The North magazine, and can generally only publish approximately 10% of the submissions we receive. You can submit up to 6 poems for consideration.
