Online Writing Workshop: Sound and Music with Helen Mort
online
Join The Poetry Society for this generative workshop with Helen Mort, exploring how sound and music can shape and transform our poems.
Together, we’ll listen closely to language: its beats, echoes, pauses and textures. Through playful writing exercises, Helen will guide you to experiment with the whole panoply of sound effects, as well as voice, and how to utilise silence. Drawing inspiration from poets who foreground sound in a variety of ways, this workshop will help you tune into the sonic possibilities of your writing. You’ll leave with new drafts and confidence in using sound as a creative force in your poetry.
