A reading series in Glasgow, run by SPAM Press and it's our first of 2026! A mixture of poems and sounds with donations towards the North Gaza Fund.

THE LINE UP:
Al Anderson is a writer of poetry and criticism (and a failed academic.) His chapbooks are ‘Tenderloin’ published by Blush Lit, ‘Custodian’ from Earthbound Poetry Series and ‘The Tired Angel’ from Slub. His first collection is due in Spring 2027 from the 87 Press. He is a Director of Housmans Bookshop in London, where he is also the Event Coordinator and the ‘Primary Buyer’ of poetry, periodicals, zines and other ephemera.
Gloria Dawson lives in Glasgow. She wrote hurricane/orison (And False Fire Press, 2022) and circlusion (Zarf Editions, 2018). Anthology publications include The Thieves (CCA Publications, 2024), The Weird Folds: Everyday Poems from the Anthropocene (Dostoevsky Wannabe, 2020), Writing Utopia (Hesterglock Press 2020) and How To Win (General Equivalent, 2020). Journals include Gutter, Poetry Review, Poetry Wales, MAP para.text, Datableed, Zarf.
Fuck This is the brainchild of Nicky Melville and bastard love child of Ivor Cutler. The songs are satirical commentaries on the last Tory government and the current Labour government. Among other things they cover welfare, warfare, Scotch eggs, covid and the Prevent strategy. Fuck This is taking the piss in the wind of our Fortean Times.
Dom Hale is an editor of Ludd Gang, the magazine of the Poets' Hardship Fund, and Chaff Press. Recent books include First Nettles (The Last Books, 2025), Faint Portal (Distance No Object, 2023), and Mud Ramps (Gong Farm, 2025), a collaboration with the poet Tom Crompton. He lives in Manchester.
Oli Hazzard is the author of three books of poems, Between Two Windows (Carcanet, 2012), Blotter (Carcanet, 2018), and Sleepers Awake (Carcanet/FSG, 2025), and a novel, Lorem Ipsum (Prototype, 2021). He teaches at the University of St Andrews and lives in Glasgow.
Daisy Lafarge is a writer based in Glasgow. She is the author of the novel Paul and the poetry collection Life Without Air, both published by Granta. Lovebug, a book on the poetics of infection, was published by Peninsula in 2023. Her second novel is forthcoming next year.
Alex MacPhail is a Highland poet-painter living in Glasgow. They practice painting and printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art. This is their bio.
Donations: A zine with work by the readers will be available on the night, for a donation towards North Gaza: Food, Water & Other Distributions; a fundraising campaign organised by Translating Falasteen (Palestine) in collaboration with the Sameer Project, launched to support families in Gaza facing severe harships. The aid is being bought from existing products in the market and is NOT being brought through any border.
