Rosie's Disobedient Press is accepting responses for our newsletter's flash commissions for texts of up to 1500 words or up to 3 poems. 

We will select one artist per open call for their work to be shared in our quarterly newsletter sent out via Rosie's Substack and it will also be featured on the Flash Commissions section on our website. The selected artist will receive a fee of £300. 

Eligibility 

- Artists must not be in full time education

- Artists must be Scottish or based in Scotland. 

- The work submitted must be unpublished. 

- The work submitted can be an extract of longer work. 

Work for the flash commissions won't go through a full editorial process, we are looking for pieces that feel complete and ready to be shared with an audience. Due to wanting this to be a fast paced way to share new writing we will not be able to provide feedback on individual submissions. The application process has been designed to be as low labour as possible and we encourage sharing existing work. If you are not successful in your submission, you can re-submit the same work at the next open call so long as that work has not been published elsewhere in the meantime. Rosie's loves work from different genres, interdisciplinary and experimental forms as well as poetry and prose - if you're not familiar with Rosie's, take a look at our back catalogue for an idea of our broad editorial leanings. 

The summer submission window will be open for 7 days from Tuesday 28th of July - 4th of August 2026. This will be repeated four times during the year, and the dates will be shared on Rosie's Website & Instagram.
