SUBMISSION CALL:
An anthology of Smutty Poetry!

We are open to submissions for a new anthology of smutty poetry, edited by Broken Sleep Books co-founder Emma Kennedy. The anthology is currently untitled and is tentatively scheduled for publication in mid 2027.

This anthology will celebrate the breadth, brilliance, and multiplicity of smutty poetry. We're looking for work that speaks from, to, or around desire, sex, and the body, however you define that. We welcome writing rooted in the senses (slow burns or filthy quickies, tender or rough, romantic or anonymous, solo or in company), writing shaped by appetite and intimacy, and writing that invents its own erotic vocabulary entirely. All romantic and intimate acts depicted must be consensual. Whether dark academia, romantasy, or otherwise, all forms of smutty poetry are encouraged.

We’re keen to represent a wide range of voices and forms, and to hear especially from those who are traditionally underrepresented within publishing, including writers of colour, working-class writers, disabled writers, and trans and non-binary writers. We aim to include a broad spread of approaches and aesthetics across the anthology.

Please send no more than 5 unpublished poems to submissions@brokensleepbooks.com with the subject line ‘Smut Anthology’.

Simultaneous submissions are okay, but please indicate if this is the case in your email. Collaborative submissions are also welcome.

Submissions are open from 17th September 2026 - 31st October 2026. We aim to respond to all submissions within 6-8 weeks of the closing date.

Only a very small percentage of people who submit actually buy a book from us. If everybody who submitted bought a book it'd be a massive boost to us. Please consider buying a book so you know what we produce and how we publish, though this will not affect your chances at all.
