SpeakEasy is hosting a new SlamEasy in 2026!

The Poetry Slam with a house band returns for its second year - this time at the Rum Shack on the Southside.

Featuring performances from Jake Wild-Hall and Spencer Mason.

Sign-ups are now open until 12 November 2026.

Slam Rules:

10 Slammers, 1 band

Use the music, it's kind of the whole point.

3 min per piece

Round 1: Free for all

No running order, the band plays a piece of music, the first person to raise their hand claims it.

Round 2 - Three for all

Reverse order, each slammer gets three words to give our house band who will improv a piece based on them.

Round 3 - Three fight for it all

The three top scoring poets will take to the mic for a final time, giving as much (or as little) as they'd like to the band as a prompt.

Prizes:

Future paid Speakeasy headline slot for three top poets, plus:

£50 (first prize) / £30 (second prize) / £20 (third prize)
