Selkie Songs Publishing is open for submissions.

We are looking for stories - however they are told - of magic, transformation, history, mystery, folklore, and wonder.

We are open for submissions of stories, whether those are told in poetic form, novella, novel, or experimental form until January 1st 2026.

We are interested in the following genres:

-fantasy

-ecofiction

-mythology

-romantasy

We are especially interested in queer writing; this can works by queer and trans authors, featuring queer and trans characters and themes. We don’t exclusively publish queer writing, but we will ensure the majority of our published work will fall into this category.

In the first instance, please send us the first 1000 words, first chapter, or first ten pages of poetry (whichever makes most sense to you), along with a one-page plot summary.

Why Publish With Us?

We are a new press, established for the purpose of promoting queer fantasy literature. Before starting Selkie Songs Publishing our editors have published their own works, both through self-publishing and through independent presses, and have significant experience with managing promotions and selling.

We offer our authors generous royalties, along with a modest financial honorarium and ten hard copies of their book.

Your book will be edited by a professional editor (in dialogue with the author throughout).

We provide professionally designed book covers, and never use AI art.

All our works are published in physical and ebook form, with some deals for audiobooks.

We understand that submitting a manuscript is a daunting and often thankless process. Whenever we decline a work we have requested to read in full, we will offer optional feedback.
