HNDL Mag is a US-based online journal dedicated to literature and art. It specifically publishes creatives with neurodivergence, disability, mental and/or chronic illnesses.

Submissions are now open for:
FLOWERS

This submission form will be open for quite some time. From Nov-Jan 21st. Because of this long submission window, please do not check in/ask/inquire about whether your piece was accepted or not or when the issue is going to be published. This is stressful for editors and simply unnecessary, as all submissions will be reviewed after the submission window closes. Please DO NOT submit if you are not okay with longer timelines in general (from submissions to editing to publication, etc). We lose a lot of time to disability and chronic illness and it is really crushing when this is not understood, as it is already a huge struggle to live with. To those who are compassionate, you are dearly appreciated.

We can't wait to see how you interpret our theme. Here are some ideas:

*Who is giving you a bouquet or who do you wish would?

Who is an under-rated artist who "deserves their flowers"?
Flowers left at a grave, given at a graduation, pressed in a journal

*Gardening as a metaphor for transitions and growth in life

*Photography of flowers growing in the cracks in sidewalks

*Floral print/ flower-themed fashion (alt, avante garde, cosplay, vintage and thrift preferred over traditional and new looks!) Drag welcome!

*Flowers in a vase at your favorite cafe and the conversations you have there

*The scents of a perfume that remind you of someone

*Scientific facts about flowers

Please give us the unexpected, the highly personal, the transformative, the unique. We do want a small percentage of straight-forward art depicting flowers, but highly prefer unexpected takes on the subject. For writing, we won't be gravitating towards basic interpretations.
